on the parable of the clockwork toy
I learnt a good analogy yesterday.
Tarbiyyah is like a wind-up toy.
before tarbiyyah, we were all stationary clockwork toys. nowhere to go. unable to move. oh boy oh boy.
Then a hand comes and spins our key. Our legs can move! Now we're free!
The road is long, the journey is tough. Along the way, 'i've had enough.'
Our key slows down, we no longer run,
and now we're back to square one.
but wait! a hand comes to twist the key,
a caring hand, so we'll always be free.
