on darkness, and then we saw light

we may be comfortable where we are now, but what is comfortable may not be what is the truth.

"Is he who was dead (without Faith by ignorance and disbelief) and We gave him life (by knowledge and Faith) and set for him a light (of Belief) whereby he can walk amongst men, like him who is in the darkness (of disbelief, polytheism and hypocrisy) from which he can never come out? Thus it is made fair­seeming to the disbelievers that which they used to do." (al An'am:122)

on our vain desires and the excuses we make for them

That's what we usually are. We don't follow what Allah and his Messenger ask, but keep on asking until we find someone who agrees with our desires and what we like.

"Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilâh (god), and Allâh knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allâh? Will you not then remember?" (45:23)

on the road not taken

"And inspired it its wickedness and its righteousness" (91:8)

"Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and wish to discriminate between Allah and His messengers and say, We believe in some and disbelieve in others, and wish to adopt a way in between - Those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment." (4:150-151)

on the opportunities that pass by

"medan khayal itu lebih luas dari medan cakap,

medan cakap itu lebih luas dari medan amal,

medan amal itu lebih luas dari medan jihad,

dan medan jihad itu lebih luas dari medan jihad yang muntij (produktif)"

"the field of imagination is wider than the field of talk,

the field of talk is wider than the field of action,

the field of action is wider than the field of jihad (utmost striving),

and the field of jihad is wider than the field of productive jihad"

the truth is only going to stand up through men (and women) of action.

on procrastination

"O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islâm and follow not the footsteps of Shaitân (Satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy." (2:208)

"And spend of that with which We have provided you, before death comes to one of you and he says: "My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah of my wealth , and be among the righteous." (63:10)

on god's mercy

Enjoin good and forbid evil and never give up.

You never know when you might save a life.
